• Stores data that won't be changed many times

• By default:

  • LDAP uses the port 389
  • LDAPS (over TLS/SSL) uses the port 636

• dc: Domain Component

• ou: Organization Units

• cn: Common Name

• sn: Surname Name

• dn (Distinguished Name): allows unique identification by entry
